A farmer from Gujarat, India, has gone missing after attempting to enter the United States illegally. Bharat Rabari, left his home in January with a group of nine people. They traveled to the Netherlands and then to Dominica, where they were hoping to board a boat to the US.
However, Rabari and the other eight people have not been seen since February. Chetna Rabari (Wife of Bharat Rabari) have filed missing persons reports, and the Indian police are investigating.
This is not the first time that people have disappeared while trying to enter the US illegally. In April, a family of four from Gujarat drowned in the St. Lawrence River while attempting to cross the border from Canada.
In 2021, there were more than 1.7 million illegal border crossings into the US. Many of these people are seeking asylum, but others are simply trying to find better economic opportunities.
The dangers of illegal immigration are well-known. People who cross the border illegally are often at risk of being exploited by smugglers or traffickers. They may also be subjected to violence or abuse.
In Bharat bhai’s case, it is unclear what happened to him. The Indian police are still investigating, but they have not yet found any leads.
